Become inspired at Sevenoaks
23 June 2016
Sevenoaks, a historical town which is home to what is widely regarded to be the oldest secular school in the UK as well as the Vine Cricket Ground, believed to be the oldest cricket ground in existence, games are reported to have taken place as far back as 1734!
With its marble fireplaces, brick terraces giving fantastic views of the Kent Downs, and Renaissance-style stained-glass windows, our centre on Bradbourne Road fits in perfectly with the historical nature of the town. The building dates back to 1874 when it was built as a Victorian mansion, it was later a girls' grammar school before becoming home to Kent Adult Education (KAE) around 30 years ago. The centre was shared between KAE and a learning difficulties school for some time but is now home solely to KAE.
A centre ready for all occasions
If you're looking to enrol on a course at Sevenoaks, it's highly likely that the centre is equipped with a room dedicated to your chosen subject. As a centre known for its arts and craft provision, it's only appropriate that the centre has 2 art studios and a large craft room, as well as a computer suite and 3 language rooms. The craft room at Sevenoaks is the only room at a KAE centre to host furniture restoration courses, so if you want to learn how to repair any old or damaged furniture, Sevenoaks is the place to be.
Art is another course that Sevenoaks specialises in. Whether you're looking to learn to paint, draw, become 'pastel perfect', get colourful with watercolours or be creative with calligraphy, Sevenoaks has it covered.
As we mentioned, there are 3 language rooms at the centre, perfect for the 56 language courses coming up at Sevenoaks in the next year. The centre has a variety of language courses at all levels from beginner to advanced, with languages including Spanish, French, Italian, German, Russian and Polish.
Although the centre is located on the outskirts of Sevenoaks and is roughly a 20 minute walk from Sevenoaks train station, the large car park with approximately 60 parking spaces makes the centre an ideal location for anyone driving to their course.
Take a break
If you're looking for a drink and something to eat whilst you're at the centre, the friendly Bean Bag Café inside the centre is the perfect place to go. The café is open 9:30am to 3:30pm from Monday to Friday and is open on Saturdays if courses are running.
