Have you ever wanted to create pieces on canvas to decorate your home as you cannot find paintings you like in galleries then this course will help you do this. You will learn about colour theory and composition, how to use texture in your artwork and how to use the colour in your home to work alongside the paints you experiment with. You could create a statement painting to hang in your living space or a series of works to lead you up the stairs changing colour and the mood as you move about your home.
Week 1 you will look at Colour theory and composition and Abstract geometry painting Week 2 Rough textured painting and Soft textured painting

How will I be taught?
Tutors will use a variety of teaching methods including demonstrations, one to one guidance, group discussions and critiques. You will look at the work of Abstract artists to help with your understanding of ideas and how Abstraction developed.
What do I need to bring with me?
For the first session bring along an A3 Size canvas, acrylic paint (white, black + 3 colours of your choice), 2 washing up sponges, masking tape about 1.5 cm wide, pieces of old cloths or kitchen towel, palette or ceramic plate to mix colours on, latex/vinyl gloves and an apron as working with paint can be messy.

What do I need to join the course
An interest in producing producing Abstract pieces of work to decorate your home based on the colours in the spaces you have.
