This is an online course delivered using Zoom, in real time with live interaction with your tutor and fellow learners..

Thoughts feelings and behaviours are all linked. By making links between what we do, think and feel, CBT can help us make changes in the way we think ("Cognitive") and the way we act ("Behaviour").

This course will look specifically at the Negative Core Beliefs we set for ourselves, believe about others or which have become ingrained. You will learn how they can affect our choices, behaviours and drive bad choices such as unhealthy eating, You will explore how our negative bias seeks confirmation of negative core beliefs. You will look at triggers of eating habits and identify some strategies for changing those. You will learn how to use questioning techniques, including use of questionaires/forms etc, as well as problem solving and coping strategies.

The course is delivered through tutor presentations and small group discussions on reflective activities and is ideal for anybody looking to understand more about weight loss and how CBT can support improvement or for those working in the health field supporting others. It will help you with your own thinking patterns. It is an ideal follow-on course from the previous courses linked to mental health but is also a stand-alone workshop.

How will I be taught?

This course will be delivered online. Students will join the class from home and be able to exchange and interact with other learners as they would in the classroom (speaking, listening, writing in the chat box). Some initial assessment at the start will lead to tutor presentations and small group discussions on reflective activities.

What do I need to have with me?

Notepad and pen for notes. A willingness to share your own experiences or thoughts is really helpful to move the session on but this is not a replacement for therapy session and the tutor will closely manage this element.

What can I do next?

A series of CPD courses for anybody wishing to understand mental health conditions and tools to support improvement. Ideal for anybody supporting others with negative thinking conditions. We are happy to take ideas for courses and put them on by demand if there is enough interest.
