This fun, highly interactive course will take your passion for food, whether it’s writing a memoir, visiting markets, cooking at home, eating out or writing recipes this one-day food writing course is for you.
Together with a friendly and experienced food writer, you’ll look at the craft of good writing, and how to find your own style and voice.
We’ll look at recipe writing techniques and how to grab a reader’s attention to keep their interest in creating delicious dishes following your instructions.
• Nigella, Delia, Jamie, Gordon … how our best loved celebrity chefs write and inspire
• The do’s and don'ts of recipe writing and how to get readers to cook your dishes
• Learn how to taste, and build your vocabulary to describe the experience
• Receive tutor feedback in the class to enable you to improve and evaluate your writing.

How will I be taught?

Sessions will include selected readings, discussion, tutor input and writing exercises and peer review. Through tutor lecturing, practical exercises and in-class discussion students will get a solid grounding in food writing.

What do I need to bring with me?

Pen/ pencil and dedicated writing notebook. Pieces of writing from food writers that you like and admire.

What can I do next?

A 10 week course about writing for food blogs, magazines reviews will be offered in the Autumn term if enough students will enrol. Your tutor will be willing to discuss options with you., If you are interested in other subjects, please ask at Reception or visit
