WELCOME. THIS IS FACE TO FACE COURSE AT THE CENTRE.
ESOL is for learners who need to develop their English skills for use in everyday life and/or work. The government and employers have called for an increase in the level of basic literacy skills for use in everyday life, education and employment and these qualifications have been developed to meet this need.
The qualifications give learners the opportunity to:
. develop their English language knowledge and skills
. achieve a nationally recognised qualification
. develop personal growth and engagement in learning
. develop English skills for personal and employment-related application.
You will learn practical English for everyday life and for working in the UK and you will make progress with the basic grammar of English. The focus of the class will be reading, writing and speaking/listening skills. Students' progress is reviewed through ILP.
FREE PARKING ON SITE.
Who is the tutor?
About the Tutor: Kremena Krumova-Trueman
Kremena Krumova-Trueman is a qualified ESOL tutor who has worked in Adult Education for many years. With a wealth of experience in delivering to groups of all levels and nationalities, she provides in-depth learning and self-study for all learners, providing information and guidance on such topics as initial assessment, examinations and extra support.
Born in Bulgaria, and moved in the UK in 2006, she has graduated Shumen University in Bulgaria, studying English and obtaining a bachelor degree in English Studies in 2004 and a Master’s degree in Linguistics and Translation in 2006.
Starting as an ESOL volunteer teaching assistant in Maidstone in 2010, she then moved on to being an ESOL tutor in Gravesend and Dartford, and has been working as a tutor since.
How will I be taught?
You will work on a variety of activities as a class and in small groups or pairs. This allows the tutor to attend to individual needs as well as to direct the learning of the group as a whole. Homework will be an essential part of the course.
An individual learning plan of work (ILP) is developed between you and the tutor. You will have tutorials with your tutor when you will be able to discuss your progress.
Additionally, your work will be regularly marked by your tutor who will give you oral/written feedback.
What do I need to bring with me?
Dictionary, ring binder for handouts and homework, paper and pen.
What can I do next?
Learners can progress to ESOL next level. Please speak to the class tutor or SkillsDartford@kent.gov.uk
