Figure Painting Workshop - Centre Based

This course provides an opportunity for students to learn, explore and extend their life painting skills. Both male and female clothed models will be used as subject matter.
By the end of this course you should be able to:
- paint more accurately from observation
- paint more expressively from observation
- look at, and take inspiration from, the work and practice of a variety of artists
- mix and use warm and cool colours
- apply paint using a variety of mark making techniques
- use colur in relation to tone

There is no 'homework' for this course, but you might like to research artists and ideas referred to on the course in your own time.
There is no qualification for this course.

There is limited parking on site, but there is a public car park nearby and on-street parking.

Who is the tutor?

About the Tutor: Sarah Fagan

Sarah Fagan has been teaching adults for over 20 years. Since obtaining her BA (Hons) Fine Art Painting in 1987 she has exhibited widely throughout the South East and in London including the RA Summer Exhibition. Her work is represented in the South East Arts and Kent County Libraries and Museums Collections.

How will I be taught?

Tutors will use a variety of teaching methods including demonstrations, one to one guidance, group discussions and critiques. You will look at the work of contemporary and historical artists and you will keep a sketchbook/notebook and individual learning plan (ILP) to record goals, ideas, processes and progress.

What do I need to bring with me?

If you are a new student and have no materials please wait for your tutor's advice on what to buy. If you have any materials/equipment that might be appropriate please bring them with you to the first session. You will need to provide your own materials and these will vary in cost according to the course requirements. You will need to bring paint (acrylic is recommended), a variety of brushes, pot/jar for water and a palette.
