This course will be held in our new classroom at Tenterden Adult Education Centre, Homewood School, Tenterden TN30 6LT

This festive fun-filled course will teach you in the first week how to create a traditional door wreath and in week two a Christmas arrangement.

Week One: Following traditional methods, you will create a beautiful door wreath bound on a moss-filled wire frame. Depending on the materials chosen, the finished designs could be anything from simple and minimalist to wild and natural in style; it really is up to you! Choose materials YOU love, for YOUR home!

Week Two: You may want to explore working in a different style, experimenting and practising with new materials or you may wish to construct a table arrangement which compliments your door wreath, with a specific place in your home already in mind.

All the sundries you need to create your wreath and table arrangement will be provided by the tutor and are included in the course fee.

How will I be taught?

Your tutor will demonstrate, in manageable steps to techniques required to create your arrangement and door wreath. You will be given feedback, advice and guidance throughout the session, with group discussion and tutor led peer evaluation being encouraged. There will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions and to find out more about this fascinating subject

What do I need to bring with me?

For week one (Christmas door wreath), please bring with you:-

- Scissors/ secateurs
- Pen and paper/ notebook
- Camera/ phone

- Foliage, some suitable types are listed below. Can use all one foliage or mixed, entirely down to personal preference.

- Spruce,
- Pine,
- Conifer,
- Berried ivy
- Eucalyptus
- Skimmia
- Laurel
- Bay
- Cupressus

I like to use spruce/ fir as the main foliage, as it is a good size and lasts well out of water. Other more decorative foliages can then be added throughout. As a rule of thumb, I use half a bundle/ 5 stems of spruce (available from florists/ wholesalers) before adding whatever else I can get hold of! Off-cuts from Christmas trees also work well, especially Nordman fir.

You will also need to bring along decorations of your choice and 2-3m of a complimentary wired ribbon. Below are examples of popular decorations, although anything can be attached, so go for it!

- Dried Fruits and Slices
- Cinnamon Sticks
- Berries (fresh/ artificial)
- Cones
- Seed heads
- Feathers
- Baubles
- Christmas decorations
- Battery operated fairy lights

Please note: a 12”wire ring, binding wire, stub wires and moss will be provided by the Tutor and are included in the course fee.
