This class is a great starting point if you’re an absolute beginner – or are looking to gain some flower arranging confidence, and develop your skills. Learn the basic principles and elements of floristry – including balance, recession and shape – this will be explored by making flower arrangements for your home. Each week a new project will be taught.
Expected Course Outcomes
Student should be able to ……………………………
• create a variety of different styles of flower arrangements – using fresh flowers and foliage
• understand the care and conditioing needs of a variety of plant material
• show knowledge and understanding of seasonal plant material
• demonstrate an awareness of basic design and colour theory
This course is delivered in partnership with Julie Davies Flower workshops.
There is no qualification for this course.
There is limited parking on site, but there is a public car park nearby and on-street parking.

Flowers, greenery and mechanics – to be advised on a week by week basis

Week 1
We’ll be creating a table arrangement in a small dish
Flowers:
You’ll need a selection of your favourite flowers – enough to fill the top surface of your dish. Bring a mixed bunch from the supermarket and some greenery - carnations, roses, and chrysanthemums are great flowers to work with.
Mechanics:
Cereal bowl or similar-sized dish – or a *plastic flower arranging dish
*Pot tape
*Flower foam
*These items will be available to buy in class at £2 per person
