An ideal course for anyone wanting to start a career in Floristry or take their basic skills to the next level. You will cover design skills and more complex processes and techniques which are needed to produce, develop and present creative ideas. You will make arrangements and bouquets in a variety of styles looking at current trends in the industry including flowers, colours and supportive resources. You will learn to create mood boards and plan your own projects in response to different themes.
You will produce a portfolio of evidence during the course as there is no final exam to sit. The qualification will be awarded after assessment of your completed portfolio, each week you will write up the method of producing the project you have completed in class and answer a short set of questions to enable you to meet the criteria of the course. You will be required to meet deadlines at various stages throughout the course so should ensure you have time each week to complete written work.

About the Tutor: Linda Barton
Linda has worked in the floristry industry for 35 years having her own florist shop in London for 30 years.She holds her ICSF in floristry and Cert Ed qualifications. She starting her teaching career 10 years ago and enjoys passing on her knowledge to students. A typical comment from a student is: "Really great fun and I learned lots. Super tutor. Thanks."
How will I be taught?
Craft courses provide an opportunity for students to learn and develop skills, techniques and understand how to design for a chosen craft to a higher level. Tutors will use a variety of teaching methods including demonstration, instructions, one-to-one tutorial guidance, group discussions and critiques. It is important to note that craft courses are practical, requiring a degree of manual dexterity. Students will need to participate fully to get the most out of the course. Our courses are taught by qualified and experienced tutors most of whom are practicing craftspeople., Your tutor will monitor and assess your progress throughout the course and discuss this with you to ensure your learning needs are being met.
What do I need to bring with me?
You will need a pen and notebook and an A4 lever arch folder for your assessed project work.
You will need to buy the flowers and other materials for your projects, the tutor will inform you what will be needed for each class.
Costs will vary each week, but it is anticipated that the flowers will cost approximately £15 per session.
What can I do next?
Further creative craft qualifications in further or higher education, your tutor will be able to advise you., This level 2 qualification will support an application to work in a Florists or set yourself up as an independent Florist running a small business from home.
What do I need to join the course
This course is suitable for those who already have some experience in Floristry or have attended a Beginners course as it is aimed at improver level students and will not cover complete beginners skills., Pre selection testing is required before enrolling to ensure the course is of a suitable level and that we are able to fully support your learning needs.
Students are required to produce a written piece of work as below –,
Write up the method of how you put together the last flower arrangement you created and reflect on what went well and what you could do to improve it.
You will need to ensure you can allow time each week to buy your flowers and write up the work from each lesson for your folder which should take approximately 2 hours a week.
