Do you want to be able to speak French at the basic level when you visit a French speaking country or want to talk with some French speaking friends?
This Beginners French course is for you. You will benefit from being in a classroom, from exchanging face to face with a supportive tutor and others as you practise speaking and enjoy learning the language.
By the end of the course successful students will be able to:
* give and receive personal information
* use numbers (prices, time)
* order and pay for food / drink in a restaurant / cafe
* ask for / use directions, local services and travel information
* purchase items in shops
* ask for help, for repetition and check meaning of language
Basic French grammar will be taught and you will also gain an insight into the culture.
You will be given homework (1hr max) to reinforce classroom learning.

How will I be taught?

The emphasis on this course is on listening and speaking. The lesson focus on language that is required in authentic situations. To help you develop language skills the course will be conducted mainly in the foreign language. You will work through different activities individually, in pairs and in small groups, using a variety of learning methods and resources (role-play, games…). To ensure your progression, it is essential to attend on a regular basis. We also recommend that you spend 1 – 2 h each week doing private study as directed by your tutor.
With your tutor, you will monitor and record your progress on your learning plan (ILP)

What do I need to bring with me?

The course book will be discussed at the first session if appropriate. Students will need to bring a pen and paper and an A4 ring binder for handouts, although we advise students not to buy anything until after the first session.

What can I do next?

There is a short “French Beginners - Summer School” to follow-up and reinforce learning. Please enrol at least one week before the start to ensure the viability of your course. After this, the next appropriate follow-on course is a Beginners Plus course. The tutor will be able to advise or check www.kentadulteducation.co.uk.

What do I need to join the course

This course is for students with no previous knowledge or those with a little basic knowledge or vocabulary who want to consolidate at a Beginners pace. If you are unsure please carry out our self-assessment test available on www.kentadulteducation.co.uk or in our Centres. The assessment provides a score to help you chose the best course for you.
