Who is the tutor?
About the Tutor: Nicola Casey
How will I be taught?
The emphasis on this course is on listening and speaking. The lesson focus on language that is required in authentic situations. To help you develop language skills the course will be conducted mainly in the foreign language. You will work through different activities individually, in pairs and in small groups, using a variety of learning methods and resources (role-play, games…). To ensure your progression, it is essential to attend on a regular basis. We also recommend that you spend 1 – 2 hrs each week doing private study as directed by your tutor.
With your tutor, you will monitor and record your progress on your learning plan (ILP)
What do I need to have with me?
The course book will be discussed at the first session if appropriate. Students will need to bring a pen and paper and an A4 ring binder for handouts, although we advise students not to buy anything until after the first session.
What can I do next?
There is a short “ French Beginners Plus - Summer School” to follow-up and reinforce learning. After this, the next appropriate follow-on course is an Intermediate course. The tutor or the Curriculum Leader will be able to advise or check www.kentadulteducation.co.uk.
What do I need to join the course
For anybody who is looking to improve the practical speaking and listening skills needed to cope with day to day scenarios when travelling and socialising in French speaking countries.
This course follows on from our French Beginners Plus course. Students need to have completed one of our Beginners Plus courses or have learnt basic French in the past (about 100 hours of study). Students should be able to use simple phrases to exchange information about self, work and life,
express likes and dislikes / agreements and disagreements and exchange information about past events at beginners plus level.
If you are unsure, please carry out our self-assessment test available on www.kentadulteducation.co.uk or in our Centres. The assessment provides a score to help you chose the best course for you. If still unsure, please speak to us or to a Curriculum Leader.
