Do you want to build your basic conversation skills? This French Beginners Steps to conversation is ideal if you already know some very basic French, if you have studied French in the past or on your own and now need help in structuring sentences for your basic conversation.
You will benefit from being in a classroom, from exchanging face to face with a supportive tutor and others as you practise speaking and enjoy learning the language. You will build on your previous knowledge of basic key phrases, vocabulary, simple grammar and culture.
By the end of the course, successful students will be able to:
• exchange information about self, work and life
• express likes and dislikes / agreements and disagreements
• exchange information about past events
• describe appearance and personalities
• explain simple health problems
• make arrangements using the simple future
You will be given homework to reinforce classroom learning.
How will I be taught?
The emphasis on this course is on listening and speaking. The lesson focus on language that is required in authentic situations. To help you develop language skills the course will be conducted mainly in the foreign language. You will work through different activities individually, in pairs and in small groups, using a variety of learning methods and resources (role-play, games…). To ensure your progression, it is essential to attend on a regular basis. We also recommend that you spend 1 – 2 h each week doing private study as directed by your tutor.
With your tutor, you will monitor and record your progress on your learning plan (ILP)
What do I need to bring with me?
The course book will be discussed at the first session if appropriate. Students will need to bring a pen and paper and an A4 ring binder for handouts, although we advise students not to buy anything until after the first session.
What can I do next?
The next course to follow-up and reinforce learning is "French Beginners Plus - L'été". Please enrol at least one week before the start to ensure the viability of your course. The tutor will be able to advise or check www.kentadulteducation.co.uk.
