This is an online course delivered using Zoom, in real time with live interaction with your tutor and fellow learners.
Do you want to be able to speak German at a basic level when visiting Germany or German speaking countries?
This online Beginners Modular course will help you to speak German at a basic level.
You can start with either Module A or B. Module C reinforces the language covered in the other modules and therefore is not for complete beginners. You can join Module C if you have some basic previous knowledge (around 40h of study).
This is an opportunity to practise speaking German and develop your language and vocabulary in real time with your tutor and other students.
By the end of the course, you should be able to
- Give and receive personal information
- Use numbers (to talk about prices)
- Order and pay for food and drink in a restaurant/café
- Basic grammar will be studied. You will learn to use expressions and forms appropriate to the language using verbs at present tense, gender, prepositions and adjectives.
You may be given homework (1 hr max) each week to reinforce classroom learning.

How will I be taught?
The focus will be on speaking and listening. Some reading and writing will also be included. Pronunciation and German culture are an integral part of the course. The course will be conducted mainly in the foreign language. Learners will work through different activities individually, in pairs and in small groups, using a variety of learning methods and resources (role-play and games etc). Homework set will provide an opportunity for self-study.
Initial assessment will be carried out at the beginning of the course to assess individual skill level. Each student' starting point will be recorded on an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) to set targets. This will be revisited regularly during the course to monitor and record your progress. Tutors will give written or verbal feedback.

What can I do next?
After completing module A you can continue with Module B and C.
The appropriate follow-on course after completion of at least two modules is a Beginners Plus course. The tutor will be able to advise or check www.kentadulteducation.co.uk
