History - 'Vive la Révolution!' - Regicide and Terreur in 18th Century France

Learn about the causes of the French revolution and its main protagonists, as well as the position of the French royal family and the consequences this dramatic event had on world history.
By the end of this course you should be able to:
• Place the French Revolution in the wider context of European and world history
• Name one or more of the main participants in the events of the period
• Describe and evaluate the outcome and consequences of the French Revolution

Who is the tutor?

About the Tutor: Richard Marsden

Richard has taught for Kent Adult Education for a number of years. He has an MA (Cantab) and a BA (Hons) in Modern and Medieval Languages. His mother is French and he has family connections in France and he also knows Latin. He is a keen amateur local historian with a particular interest in the traditional buildings of Kent.

How will I be taught?

We shall use small group work, tutor input and discussion.
You will discuss your learning with the tutor and will be asked to record your progress on a Learning Plan.

What do I need to bring with me?

Apart from a sense of curiosity and an interest in history or art, you may wish to bring note taking materials.

Everyone is welcome to join this course. No prior knowledge is necessary but a good understanding of English is essential. All you need is a sense of enquiry and an interest in History.
