Interior Design -- City and Guilds Level 2 Certificate on this course there is an emphasis on creativity and individual original design, it will include historical and contemporary, design influences and architectural features. Students will be taught recognised methods, drawing, elevation plans, creating swatch boards, costing as well as researching into paint, textiles,lighting and design materials.It will also include some basic design principles such as colour, line, shape, form and texture. How will I be taught?
Our City and Guilds courses provide an opportunity for students to learn and develop, design, skills, techniques and to acquire an understanding of a specific craft. Students will also be expected to research and respond to the design aspects of craft. Tutors will use a variety of teaching methods including demonstrations, instructions, one to one tutorial guidance, group discussions and critiques. City and Guilds provide its students with simple tracking sheets to review units to be completed. Students on this course will have a learning plan and the opportunity to review their progress towards the qualification on a regular basis. At the end of the course a student are expected to complete all the aims of the learning plans. Learning plan 1. Successfully demonstrate Design/ Techniques/Skills relevant to the subject. 2. Competent application of Design/ Techniques/Skills. 3. Use work of others to inspire own work. 4. Demonstrate an understanding of Health and Safety relevant to the subject Students will need to look at the work of other craftspeople, artists both contemporary and historical and keep a sketchbook/notebook to record goals, ideas, processes and progress. Students are required participate fully to get the most out of the course. Our courses are taught by qualified and experienced tutors most of whom are practising craftspeople., Through one to one guidance, group critiques and self-assessment and through the C and G end of project tracking sheets.
What do I need to bring with me?
Please bring an A3 Cartridge pad, notebook, small box of watercolour paints and brush, Pritt stick and scissors and A4 folder to the first session. You will also need a range of stationery items, drawing pens, set square and drawing board , the tutor will give advice on these at the first session. As with all our courses please do not buy any equipment until you are sure the course is running

Our City and Guilds courses help to prepare students to apply for Access to Art and Design foundation courses or relevant Craft, Art and Design Degree courses. Enrol early as places cannot be guaranteed., ,
What do I need to join the course
Enrolment is after completion of an application form and discussion with the tutor/ programme manager, please contact the Sevenoaks Adult Education Centre on 03000 415959 to arrange this., This course is for those with an interest in colour and design in the home, it could also lead into employment on satisfactory completion of the certificate. This course is suitable for beginners but those with some experience may find the course more useful. It is important to note that craft courses are practical and require a degree of manual dexterity. If you need to bring a carer with you, or be accompanied by another person, please ask to speak with the Programme Manager before you enrol.
