This Introduction course into Mixed Media Painting will explore artworks composed from a combination of different media or materials. You will be using a variety of different media such as watercolours/acrylics and mixed media processes. You will discover how various media work together to produce finished pieces. Throughout the course you will create developmental pieces of work using artists work to influence personal outcomes with the aim to produce a final piece.
Who is the tutor?
About the Tutor: Stephen Thompson
Stephen Thompson BA Hons Fine Art, is a highly respected artist and teacher, with many years of teaching experience across all education sectors, including Head of Art at the English College in Prague. Stephen continues to exhibit work regularly and maintains an active presence in the Folkestone Art scene.
How will I be taught?
Tutors will use a variety of teaching methods including demonstrations, one to one guidance, group discussions and critiques. You will look at the work of contemporary and historical artists and you will keep a sketchbook/notebook) to record goals, ideas, processes and progress. You will undertake critical reflection and evaluation and be motivated to develop creative skills and enhance/develop personal skills.
What do I need to bring with me?
If you are a new student and have no materials please wait for your tutor's advice on what to buy. However, all students should bring an A4 sketchbook of good quality cartridge paper, preferably with a hard cover and ring bound and a variety of pencils.
You will need to provide your own materials and these will vary in cost according to the course requirements. Some of our centres have paper that you can buy at competitive prices.
If you have any materials/equipment that might be appropriate please bring them with you.
