This is an online course delivered using Zoom, in real time with live interaction with your tutor and fellow learners.

You will use your Italian in a range of real life situations that will help you build up confidence in speaking and enlarge your vocabulary and improve your grammar through discussing varied topics.
This course will have a maximum of 8 students.
You will benefit from exchanging in real time with a supportive tutor and others as you practise speaking and enjoy learning the language.

Successful students will be able to:
• Describe people, abstract situations, feelings
• Express an opinion and ideas related to the topic presented using the appropriate tenses

Grammar will be expanded within the topic of the lesson. You will be given small amounts of homework (1 hour max) each week to reinforce classroom learning.

How will I be taught?

The focus will be on oral communication (speaking and listening) and some reading and writing will also be included. Pronunciation and Italian culture are an integral part of the course. The course will be conducted mainly in the foreign language. Learners will work through different activities individually, in pairs and in small groups, using a variety of learning methods and resources (role-play and games etc). Homework set will provide an opportunity for self study to reinforce learning.
Initial assessment will be carried out at the beginning of the course to assess individual skill level. Each student's starting point will be recorded on an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) and targets will be set. This will be revisited from time to time during the course to monitor and record progress. Tutors will mark homework and give written or verbal feedback.

What do I need to have with me?

The course book will be discussed at the first session if appropriate. Students will need to bring a pen and paper and an A4 ring binder for handouts, although we advise students not to buy anything until after the first session.

What can I do next?

An extension of this course can be discussed with the tutor and priced according to the number of students. The appropriate follow-on course is an Intermediate Plus course. The tutor or the curriculum leader will be able to advise or check
