Latin Improvers - Online Live

Main focus of the course is on translating selected texts at appropriate levels from Latin into English. The course will will use the Cambridge Latin Course Books III and IV as its basis, with other texts taken from classical mythology or literature. In addition to translation students will study Latin grammar as used in the texts, and will also study relevant episodes from Roman history and aspects of cultural life relating to the text materials.

How will I be taught?

Students will translate and discuss prepared texts in class combining some individual work with pair and group work. Students should be prepared spend some time on homework, consolidating learning from the course book and preparing texts for translation. Grammar information is presented on slides which are available for students to download from the Moodle website

What do I need to have with me?

Handouts will be provided; students should be prepared to buy a course book, but it is not necessary to do this beforehand; we will discuss this during the first class. Bring writing materials.

What do I need to join the course
