This Life Drawing course will cover a range of approaches to life drawing, e.g. quick poses, exercises that help improve observation, drawing with positive and negative spaces and drawing on the right side of the brain, as well as more formal approaches to study proportion, tone, form and flesh tones. There will be an opportunity to use and experiment with a range of media, both traditional and experimental, e.g. pencil, charcoal, paint, and ink
By the end of the course you will be able to:
Use proportion conventions and strategies to increase accuracy of figure drawing
Produce drawings that demonstrate an understanding on tone, i.e. shadows, mid tones and highlights
Produce paintings that demonstrate an understanding of colour theory and a limited palette, i.e. 3 primaries and white to mix flesh tones.
Produce drawings and paintings that demonstrate the use of a range of mark making techniques, such as pen and ink, ink and wash, broad charcoal marks, linear charcoal marks, broad brush strokes, translucent washes.
Be aware of and work to relevant Health and Safety guidelines.
