This is an online course delivered using Zoom, in real time with live interaction with your tutor and fellow learners.
This is a day for you to develop your skills in pen and ink. In this course we will discuss other artists approach to drawing in pen and ink and make a drawing involving a wide range of marks from a photo. We will start the work off with mark making using observational exercises. You will view a slide show of artists' work and start by exploring quick sketch techniques and work towards a final piece of work.
Who is the tutor?
About the Tutor: Helen Easter
Helen is an experienced tutor who has been teaching for 27 years. She delivers courses on painting and drawing, printmaking, papier mache, paper pots. Her main work entails images mixed with the abstract and she uses methods and techniques in all mediums. Helen has exhibited and sold her work in galleries in the UK and abroad. Her paintings have been used for book covers and greeting cards. She is involved with the British Fencing Association where her fencing images have been used for prizes; she also does commissions from fencers and was featured in The Sword magazine in January 2013. She has designed murals for Kent Children Libraries and has curated shows for Shepway council and Metropole Galleries which were featured in the Sunday Times as best shows outside London. How will I be taught?
This course will be delivered online. You will join the class from home and be able to exchange and interact with other learners as you would in the classroom (speaking and listening).
What do I need to have with me?
For this course you will need the following items:-
- Indian ink and small dish / plate for mixing washes
- Dip pen
- A large feather
- A wax candle
- A craft knife
- A3 cartridge paper (smooth)
- Watercolour paper
- White gouache
- Paintbrush size 7 approx. ( not your best watercolour brush)

What do I need to join the course
Everyone is welcome to join this course. It is important to note that art courses are practical and require a degree of manual dexterity.
