Do you want to be able to speak Portuguese at basic level when you visit Portugal or Brazil?
This Portuguese course will allow you to practise the language and improve your confidence in speaking. You will be able to use your conversational skills on basic topics in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.
You will benefit from exchanging with a supportive tutor and others as you practise speaking and enjoy learning the language.
By the end of the course successful students should be able to:
- Converse about basic topics such as personal information, shopping, asking for directions
- Talk about preferences and express likes and dislikes
- Develop vocabulary, fluency and confidence in speaking
Basic Portuguese grammar will be taught and students will also gain an insight into the culture.
You will be given small amounts of homework each week (max 1hr) to reinforce classroom learning.

How will I be taught?
The focus will be on oral communication (speaking and listening) and some reading and writing will also be included. Pronunciation and culture are an integral part of the course. The course will be conducted mainly in the foreign language. Learners will work through different activities individually, in pairs and in small groups, using a variety of learning methods and resources
(role-play and games etc).
What do I need to bring with me?
Students will need to bring a pen and paper and an A4 ring binder for handouts,

What do I need to join the course
This course is for all students with basic knowledge or vocabulary or the ones who have attended some short Portuguese courses and would like to have a refresher before continuing with their studies. If you are unsure about your level, please speak to us or to a Curriculum Leader.
