This course is an opportunity to learn the basic skills and techniques of slab and coil work and how to make sure your pots do not fall apart while drying or firing. The tutor will take you through how to hand build with clay safely using the Tunbridge Wells Pottery studio as a base for the course.

How will I be taught?
Craft courses provide an opportunity for you to learn and develop skills, techniques and understand how to design for a chosen craft. Tutors will use a variety of teaching methods including: demonstration, instructions, one-to-one tutorial guidance, group discussions and critiques.
Your tutor will give you feedback during the sessions and during one to one tuition.
Our courses are taught by qualified and experienced tutors most of whom are practising craftspeople.
What do I need to have with me?
A notebook, pen and pencil will be useful for taking notes during the course. A bag of buff clay will be needed this can be bought online from your local pottery craft shop and a basic bag of plastic tools, so you don't need much to get your started.

What do I need to join the course
Everyone is welcome to join the course who has an interest in learning hand building techniques.
You can access the class from your computer equipped with a camera and a microphone, from a laptop, a tablet or a smartphone. Before the start of the course, the tutor will send you by email an invitation to join, which will be a simple weblink to click. We will be using Zoom, the system is free, secure and easy to use.
