How will I be taught?
The course will consist of a mixture of tutor input, group activities and discussion. The emphasis will be on participation and sharing of ideas. The tutor will use a variety of materials such as video and card sorts and where possible students are encouraged to carry out their own research so they can apply theory to real life situations.
At the start of the course you will be asked about your current knowledge and understanding of psychology. This is an introductory course, so you are not expected to bring any knowledge, but we will be interested to find out how much you have gained from the course by the end.
If you have a disability and think it may affect your learning in the classroom, or using any of our other services, please speak to us in confidence as soon as possible. We will discuss options with you and do our best to provide the support you would like.
What do I need to bring with me?
Pen, paper and folder will be useful but we advise students not to purchase equipment, books or materials until after the first session of the course unless otherwise stated.
What can I do next?
The course would be a useful starting point for anyone considering studying Psychology at GCSE or AS level and is an excellent follow-on to Psychology Introduction or other courses in our Psychology series. Your tutor will advise you on the appropriate follow-up course or visit www.adulteducation.co.uk.
