This Understanding Stress course forms part of a series of sessions exploring mental health. Learn how mental health conditions manifest and what the symptoms look like, what might be the causes and learn some practical ways to manage some of the symptoms to help you or those around you cope better on a daily basis. This course focuses particularly on stress - what can cause stress, different levels and some tips to help people be more able to cope when things do get difficult.
This Understanding Stress course in Sevenoaks will introduce you to some of the key concepts associated with stress.
By the end of the day students should be able to:
1) recognise the nature of stress
2) state the effects of stress
3) understand the factors that contribute towards stress
4) identify and develop ways to manage stress
General broad ideas will be shared and discussed amongst the group. There could be some sharing of personal experiences this course is not a replacement for personal therapy and this element will be carefully managed by the tutor.

How will I be taught?
The Understanding Stress course uses learner-centred teaching in a supportive environment, aiming to help students develop their skills and increase their knowledge. We will use a range of discussion, role plays, worksheets, questionnaires and audio/visual methods to explore the topic.
There are opportunities to discuss the content with the tutor, who can provide feedback and suggestions. This is an introductory course, so you are not expected to bring any knowledge, but we will be interested to find out how much you have gained from the course by the end.
What do I need to bring with me?
Pen and paper for notes might be useful but we advise students not to purchase equipment, books or materials until after the first session of the course unless otherwise stated.
