Planning a trip to Russia soon? If you are visiting Russia in the near future or want to grasp a little Russian lingo this two days Russian Basics course in Canterbury is the course for you.
This 8 hour course aims to give students enough essential travel phrases to get by on a visit or to interact with Russian speakers but will remain fairly basic.
By the end of the course successful students should be able to:
- give and receive basic greetings
- Use numbers and currency
- order and pay for food and drink in a restaurant or cafe
Basic Russian grammar will be taught and students will also gain an insight into the culture.
1 hour per day is allocated for breaks and lunch.
There is a cafeteria with vending machines, a cafe on campus in the Gym or bring a pack lunch.
How will I be taught?
The focus will be on oral communication (speaking and listening) and some reading and writing will also be included. Pronunciation and Russian culture are an integral part of the course. The course will be conducted mainly in the foreign appropriate language to your level. Learners will work through different activities individually, in pairs and in small groups, using a variety of learning methods and resources (role-play and games etc). Tutors will mark homework and give written or verbal feedback.
What do I need to bring with me?
Please bring a pen and paper and an A4 ring binder for handouts. Unless details are outlined above, we advise not to buy equipment, books or materials until after the first session.
