During this class you will learn how to confidently use an overlocker and be able to make use of the appropriate techniques correctly for a variety of fabrics.
By the end of the course you should be able to:
- Use an overlocker with increased confidence
- Thread an overlocker
- Use a variety of overlocking techniques
- Choose the appropriate techniques for different fabrics
- Work consistently under Health and Safety
There is no qualification for this course.
There is limited parking on site, but there is a public car park nearby and on-street parking.
Who is the tutor?
About the Tutor: Sian Lewis
Siân Lewis is a designer and textile artist. She studied fashion at the Royal College of Art and Ravensbourne College of Art and Design and has10 years experience of designing and making competition dancewear including for Strictly Come Dancing. She has worked on costumes for TV, stage and film and has been teaching textiles and art since 2008. Sian is currently developing her own range of textile prints and accessories.
How will I be taught?
Your tutor will use a variety of teaching methods including demonstrations, group and individual teaching and group discussions. Your tutor will give you individual feedback and assess you as you progress through the course.
What do I need to bring with me?
You will require your own sewing machine and overlocker.
