This course is designed to enable you to gain knowledge and confidence in your sewing skills and teaches you to use a sewing machine in a relaxed, informal and informative class. In the Zoom Room you will need access to your sewing machine if you have one. Before buying a sewing machine, we recommend you come to the first session to seek advice from your Tutor before you buy a machine of your own.
By the end of the course, students should be able to: -
- Thread their sewing machine with confidence.
- Identify and Choose suitable presser feet for their projects
- Identify and demonstrate a range of stitches on their sewing machine.
- Choose the correct needles for different fabrics.
- know how to identify and fix problems with the machine
How will I be taught?
This course will be delivered online. You will join the class from home and be able to exchange and interact with other learners as you would in the classroom (speaking and listening). This measure is dictated by circumstances and the course will be delivered back in the classroom as soon as possible
Craft courses provide an opportunities for students to learn and develop skills, techniques and understand how to design a chosen craft to a higher level.
Students will also be expected to research and respond to the design aspects of craft.
Tutors will use a variety of teaching methods including demonstration, instructions, 1:1 tutorials, group discussion and critiques.
Are courses are taught by qualified and experienced tutors most of whom are practicing crafts people.
What do I need to have with me?
Students will be taught how to use their machine confidently, and troubleshoot any problems that arise. Don't forget you will need all your accessories, foot controls and leads for the machine, and the instruction manual.
Before buying a sewing machine, we recommend you come to the first session to seek advice from your Tutor before you buy a machine of your own.
Students will need to have their own sewing equipment, such as sharp scissors, pins, needles, a tape measure, chalk fabric pencil, sewing threads to match fabrics; a tape measure; a folder, paper and pens. A digital camera is also useful to record progress

Everyone is welcome to join this course - no experience or knowledge of the subject is needed.

Before each lesson, the tutor may send you by email essential lesson information/handouts for you to consult in advance, and before the class starts, the tutor will have sent you by email an invitation to join, which will be a simple weblink to click.
