Wake up with Yoga - Online Live

This is an online course delivered using Zoom, in real time with live interaction with your tutor and fellow learners.

On this mixed ability Yoga course beginners will learn basic postures and those with some experience will develop their practice of yoga postures, breathing and relaxation techniques. Your tutor will explain the benefits and how you can apply them to your daily life. You will be advised to practice regularly at home.

The following learning outcomes are what you'll achieve during this course:

- You'll be able to demonstrate and hold a variety of postures using correct alignment
- You'll practice control of breath to assist relaxation and stamina
- You'll be able to identify the benefits of Yoga practice
- You'll be able to link a number of postures to perform a flowing sequence
- You'll be able to discuss basic Yoga philosophy, history and terminology

Who is the tutor?

About the Tutor: Christine Durey

Christine Durey has a British Wheel of Yoga Diploma and a member of CIMSPA (Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity). Christine is a highly experienced Yoga tutor with experience working with all levels.

How will I be taught?

Teaching methods will include demonstration, explanation, discussion and times for question and answer sessions. Your tutor will demonstrate exercises and routines and will talk you through all movements. Activities will be adapted to suit individual needs and capabilities.

To assist us in providing a safe and healthy environment for you to exercise you will be asked to complete a Confidential Health Questionnaire. You will be carefully observed to ensure that you are working safely and be encouraged to monitor and record your progression on the course on an Individual Learning Plan (ILP).

What do I need to have with me?

Please bring a non-slip mat intended for Yoga, a blanket and socks for relaxation, a bottle of water. Please wear loose comfortable clothing, you will be asked to exercise in bare feet. You may be advised not to take part if you are not dressed appropriately.

What do I need to join the course

This Yoga class is for anyone interested in exercise, keep fit and maintaining an active, healthy lifestyle.

You will need to be able to follow verbal instructions, observe and copy physical movements and use spatial awareness within a group. Although there is no specific work set outside of the class, students will gain most benefit if exercises are performed regularly and practised between classes.
