This course will be delivered in the Golf Road Centre in Deal
On this watercolour course you will have the opportunity to continue to learn, apply and extend the skills and techniques learned on a Beginners course. The Improvers course covers line and wash painting and drawing, mixed media techniques including drawing and painting, illustration and graphic skills. Elements of composition, proportion and tonal and colour work are explored through projects in still life, landscape and the human form.
To ensure that students' learning needs are met, the tutor will work with the student to complete the required Individual Learning Plan.
As a starting point, all Creative subjects will have the following Course Outcomes
- Successfully demonstrate techniques/skills.
- Select the appropriate media, materials and processes to complete a project.
- Identify work of others to inspire your own work.
- Demonstrate an understanding of relevant Health and Safety issues.
These outcomes will be the basis of all learning. Additional Personal Learning Outcomes can be negotiated with your tutor to better meet your individual needs.

Who is the tutor?
About the Tutor: Angelo Pizzigallo
Angelo Pizzigallo is a practising artist who exhibits his work locally and in London galleries. Primarily a painter using water-based media, he uses vibrant colours and textures to create layered pictures, often of nocturnal scenes and figures in interiors. He also sometimes incorporates printed and found materials, calling it 'mixed up media'! A very experienced tutor, he has taught for Kent Adult Education for more than 10 years.
How will I be taught?
Our art courses provide an opportunity for students to learn and develop, skills, techniques and to acquire an understanding of the subject. Tutors will use a variety of teaching methods including demonstrations, instructions, one to one tutorial guidance, group discussions and critiques. Students will need to look at the work of other artists both contemporary and historical and keep a sketchbook/notebook to record goals, ideas, processes and progress.
What do I need to bring with me?
You will need your own watercolour paints, brushes and pencils (graphite or coloured), watercolour paper, sketch paper, fineliner ink pens, felt pens pastels soft or hard and oil pastels.
What can I do next?
Further watercolour or drawing and painting courses. The tutor will be able to advise.
What do I need to join the course
This watercolour course in the Golf Road Centre in Deal is for students who have some experience it is not suitable for complete beginners. The course will enable learners who want to build on their observational skills in drawing and watercolour sketching.
