About this course

Would you like to be able to use your Italian in a range of real life situations? Then this Italian Intermediate course is for you. This 11 week Italian course in Maidstone follows on from our Italian Intermediate courses and is for anyone who wants to develop their skills further.

Successful students will be able to:
• Describe (people, places, situations, events etc)
• Exchange/extract key information on a variety of topics/situations
• Give and follow specific instructions
• Make simple arrangements
• Express an opinion
• Listen and respond to information from a range of sources (telephone messages, news headlines/public announcements, instructions, conversations)
• Grasp general meaning of written material (e-mails, mobile text messages, letters, notices, leaflets etc)
• Deal with emergencies, problems and complaints

Grammar will be expanded. You will learn to use expressions and forms appropriate to the language using present, future and some past tenses. You will be given small amounts of homework (1 hour max) each week to reinforce classroom learning.

How will I be taught?

The focus will be on oral communication (speaking and listening) and some reading and writing will also be included. Pronunciation and Italian culture are an integral part of the course. The course will be conducted mainly in the foreign language. You will work through different activities individually, in pairs and in small groups, using a variety of learning methods and resources (role-play and games etc). Homework set will provide and opportunity for self study including the use of online resources.
Initial assessment will be carried out at the beginning of the course to assess individual skill level. Each student starting point will be recorded on an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) and targets will be set. This will be revisited from time to time during the course to monitor and record progress. Tutors will mark homework and give written or verbal feedback.

What do I need to bring with me?

The course book will be discussed at the first session if appropriate. You will need to bring a pen and paper and an A4 ring binder for handouts, although we advise not to buy anything until after the first session.

What can I do next?

The appropriate follow on course is an Intermediate Plus course. The tutor will be able to advise or check www.kentadulteducation.co.uk.
