A paid or voluntary school placement is essential for a minimum of one day a week in a primary, secondary or special educational setting. The placement needs to be organised by the student before a place can be offered on the course.

Students also need to have an enhanced DBS check (previously CRB). Students should initially contact their placement school to discuss local DBS arrangements. Please note that this may incur an additional cost that is not included in the advertised course fee.

This is a Level 2 qualification equating to GCSE (grade A-C) and, therefore, assignments will require this level of competence in English. You should be able to follow spoken and written instructions, read handouts/exercises and take part in group discussions.

A pre-course assessment of literacy and numeracy skills is held before enrolment to confirm that the course is suitable for you and flexible support is available through our Skills Plus centres.
