About this course

This is a closed course for members of NKCN only.

It is part of our Nutrition for Health Programme and is designed for people who wish to develop their understanding of the principles of healthy eating and the role of food in maintaining good health.

During this workshop you will explore how to boost your energy through healthy eating and assess how you can help to improve your own health and energy levels through nutrition.

How will I be taught?

You will be taught by a qualified Nutritional Therapist. Our teaching methods include explanation, discussion and times for question and answer sessions in additional to some group work activities.

At the start of your course you will be asked to complete an Initial Assessment which will be used by you and your tutor to reflect on and monitor your progress. Your tutor will also use this information to ensure that all of your personal goals are achieved and provide individual support where necessary. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made.

What do I need to bring with me?

A notepad pen and folder for handouts might be useful.

What do I need to join the course

The course is at an introductory level and no previous experience is necessary.

By the end of this course you will be able to:

•List the foundations of a healthy diet
•List the foods reported to boost memory
•Describe why certain foods are reported to contribute to poor memory
•Create your own healthy eating plan to help improve your memory.

About the Tutor: Michelle Serena Bramble

Michelle is a qualified dance, fitness and wellbeing instructor who has experience working with students with a wide range of abilities from beginners to more experienced workout enthusiasts. Michelle is a qualified Nutritional Therapist and also has qualifications in Inclusive Dance for the Disabled, Walk Leading and Chair Based Exercise for the Frail and Elderly in addition to qualifications and ongoing Continuous Professional Development training in Aromatherapy and Essential Oils, Body Image and Styling, Crystals and Healing, Lifestyle Coaching, Mindfulness and Meditation, Mental Health including Working with Personality Disorders and the Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector.
