How will I be taught?
We will read the texts (short books or extracts) in our own time with the help of a reading guidance worksheet. Fortnightly meetings allow plenty of time between classes. We will discuss the texts in class, either in Italian or in English and develop skills to develop appreciation of works written in Italian.
This course does not lead to any formal qualification, so there is no pressure on you to complete assessments or to take exams. Tutors will assess you informally during the class and use the Individual Learning Plans for constructive feedback.
What do I need to bring with me?
We expect to read a total of six books or texts, of manageable size. Students who own an E-reader may be able to read some books electronically if they prefer. Students should bring a pen and paper and an A4 ring binder for handouts. The first text will be provided at the first session.
If the group decides to study books that are not yet in the Public Domain, students will have to arrange to pay the charge to access these books. This will be discussed in the first class.
What can I do next?
As the course Italian Reading For Pleasure will look at different texts, you can attend any of them year after year.
