About this course

This workshop aims to demystify the the transference and counter transference dynamics in the counselling work. It is aimed at those who are practising Counsellors or student Counsellors at Level 3 or Level 4. The focus will be around defining what it is, when it's likely to occur and how to recognise and work with it.

Throughout this workshop you will be challenged to reflect on your own feelings and reactions in the present and to make relevant connections with your own personal history.

How will I be taught?

The course will consist of a mixture of tutor input, group activities and discussion. The emphasis will be on participation and sharing of ideas. If you have a disability and think it may affect your learning in the classroom, or using any of our other services, please speak to us in confidence as soon as possible. We will discuss options with you and do our best to provide the support you would like.

At the start of the course you will be asked to fill in a form about your current knowledge and understanding of the subject. This is an introductory course, so you are not expected to bring any knowledge, but we will be interested to find out how much you have gained from the course by the end.

What do I need to bring with me?

Pen and Notepad for your notes.

What can I do next?

Students can progress from Level 2 to Level 4 with Kent Adult Education - we offer a series of courses across Kent. Your tutor will be able to advise.

Other day courses are offered to help develop your specific understanding of a variety of Counselling topics to develop your expertise in these areas or as part of your general CPD as a Counsellor.

What do I need to join the course

A qualification at Level 2 Counselling Skills or above with some recent experience of using Counselling Skills as a Counsellor or a Student Counsellor at level 3 or Level 4.
