About this course

At The Beaney, you will be introduced to drawing by the tutor and local artist, Clare Langlands, using the Museum's collection as a resource. Starting with sketching, you will go on to experiment with different techniques and ideas, engage with the collection and begin to develop your own drawing style.

By the end of the session you should be able to:
• Draw with increased confidence
• Experiment with different techniques and ideas
• Generate ideas for further drawing using The Beaney collection as a resource

How will I be taught?

The session will start in The Beaney Community Room, where drawing activities and learning objectives will be demonstrated and explained. You may produce some drawing in the community room, but the main aim is to take what you have been taught and practise in the galleries where you will enjoy gathering visual information and generating ideas for further drawing. There will be plenty of one to one guidance and feedback at the end of the session, when students will have the opportunity to share their ideas and experiences, with a view to learning from each other.

What do I need to bring with me?

Materials will be provided.

What can I do next?

A further drawing or drawing and painting course with KAE. The next course with this tutor at The Beaney is the 4-week course 'Scribble, Sketch, Learn to Draw at The Beaney' starting on 12/01/16.

What do I need to join the course

This course is suitable for beginners and those with a little experience of drawing.
