About this course

You will be introduced to the craft of handmade jewellery making using Silver Metal Clay and you will have the opportunity to make either a pendant or a pair of earrings. This course uses hand tools and basic forming techniques and does not include soldering. The tutor will demonstrate basic techniques related to the materials, such as: applying a texture to the silver clay or adding wire to create simple patterns. Students will progress on to making their own textured pendant or earrings and given the knowledge they need to polish and finish their pieces if this cannot be completed on the day.

By the end of this course you should be able to:

- use precious metal clay to create a pendant or pair of earrings
- know how to apply a texture to the clay
- know how to add wire decoration to the clay
- know how to polish and finish the work

There is no qualification for this course.

How will I be taught?

Craft courses provide an opportunity for students to learn and develop skills, techniques and understand how to design for a chosen craft. Tutors will use a variety of teaching methods including demonstration, instructions, one-to-one tutorial guidance, group discussions and critiques. Students will need to participate fully to get the most out of the course. Our courses are taught by qualified and experienced tutors most of whom are practising craftspeople.

What do I need to bring with me?

The use of tools and all the necessary materials for the day are included in the course fee. Please bring a packed lunch.
