TON/65195/G/LC History - Royal Figures Series - Plantagenet Queens

They say that behind every man is a great woman and this can certainly be seen to be the case with many of the Plantagenet queens. From the divisive warring of Eleanor of Aquitaine (Queen of Henry II) to the happy family circle created by Philippa of Hainault (Queen of Edward III), the women behind the men in this family were highly influential as both wives and mothers. We will examine the lives and careers of some of these women and assess the influences they can be seen to have exercised over their men.

By the end of this course you should be able to:
• Place the Plantagenet queens within the wider context of British history
• Name some - or all - of the Plantagenet queens of England
• Explain some of the family ties between branches of the family
• Discuss ways in which these women were able to influence the course of British history
