About this course

If you already work in accounting and have previously undertaken a Level 1 qualification then this 'AAT Foundation Certificate in Bookkeeping Level 2 - Fast Track' course in Ashford is for you.

On successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

- Develop practical accountancy skills in the double-entry bookkeeping system and in using associated documents and processes;
- Check transactions for accuracy, make entries in appropriate books and ledgers and calculate sales invoices and credit notes;
- Carry-out bank reconciliations and trial balances;
- Explain the relationships between various accounting records.

**PLEASE NOTE: In order to complete the course and gain a certificate, you will need to pass two computer-based assessments.**

**PLEASE NOTE: You must join AAT in order to take the exam and gain the certificate. You will need to pay a membership fee (approximately £44) directly to AAT in order to register for their exams. You will need to complete membership by the third week of the course. The membership fee covers a one year period and covers the registration of all AAT exams taken within a 12 month period. Membership provides you with access to online learning materials which will support you with your study and a monthly magazine.**

**PLEASE NOTE: As this is an accredited course, regular attendance, a high level of commitment and approximately 2.5 hours of home study per week are required from you when enrolling on this course. You may be removed from the course if you do not regularly attend. You are advised to read the course specificaion on the AAT website prior to enrolling on the course.**

**PLEASE NOTE: The main door to the Ashford Gateway building closes at 6pm on Wednesdays. You can access the building through a side door which is situated at the south corner of the front of the building. The entry system is via a buzzer.**

How will I be taught?

The course will be taught in a relaxed and informal atmosphere with students who attend regularly and complete home study as required. Your tutor will use a variety of teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles to support you in achieving your goals. Your individual needs will be taken into consideration.

Throughout the course, your tutor will give you verbal and written feedback on your progress towards the requirements of the qualification.

What do I need to bring with me?

Your tutor will advise you at the start of the course.

You will need a calculator (not one built into a mobile phone), a notepad, pen, pencil, eraser, ruler, highlighter and correction fluid or tape. Please also bring an A4 ring binder for notes and handouts.

What do I need to join the course

This course is aimed at those who have previously attended a Level 1 manual bookkeeping course. If you have attended a manual bookkeeping course with another provider, then you should complete an 'Application of Interest' form as well as an initial assessment prior to enrolling on the course, to ensure that this is the most suitable course for you. You can contact a local adult education centre and arrange an appointment to complete the literacy and numeracy assessment at the centre.

If you have not completed a manual bookkeeping qualification previously, then the Level 1 course would be recommended,

You will need basic computing skills to attend this course as the final exam is computer-based. You should be able to follow spoken and written instructions, read handouts/activities and take part in group discussions.

This course is aimed at those who are developing the skills and knowledge required of bookkeepers. It is suitable for students studying in preparation for employment in bookkeeping roles and for those who are already employed in bookkeeping and/or data processing roles.
