About this course

This courses offers the opportunity to develop your drawing skills further, to unpick the techniques used in some of the great pieces and use this on individual projects to great effect. The theme of the day is the magical world of marine life. Throughout the session you will learn new skills, develop existing ones and work with an array of subject matter to explore your own style.

During the course, students will be able:
To improve on a range of drawing techniques
To develop ideas and design
To explore new and revisit different subject matter
To reference Historical and Contemporary Artists where appropriate

How will I be taught?

The tutor will use a variety of teaching methods including demonstrations, one to one guidance, group discussions and critiques. You will look at the work of contemporary and historical artists and you will keep a sketchbook/notebook, to record your goals, ideas, processes and progress.

What do I need to bring with me?

If you are a new student and have no materials please wait for your tutor's advice on what to buy. However, all students should bring an A4 sketchbook of good quality cartridge paper, preferably with a hard cover and ring bound and a variety of pencils.You will need to provide your own materials and these will vary in cost according to the course requirements. Some of our centres have their own ‘shops' where you are able to buy things at competitive prices.If you have any materials/equipment that might be appropriate please bring them with you.

What do I need to join the course

Previous beginners course would be helpful.
Improvers and those with experience, or students who have completed a beginners course and wish to develop their skills further.
