About this course

Stained glass is a beautiful and creative medium. This course will show you how to produce interesting patterns, textures and shapes in glass. You will cover the basic principles of glass fusing including positive relief, negative relief, tack fusing, full fusing, use of confetti and stringers. Additionally you will undertake an individual project of your own choosing including the use of slump moulds. The programme for students with some experience in glass fusing will be by negotiation.

How will I be taught?

Craft courses provide an opportunity for students to learn and develop skills, techniques and understand how to design for a chosen craft to a higher level. Tutors will use a variety of teaching methods including demonstration, instructions, one-to-one tutorial guidance and group discussions You will be asked to help document your learning on and you may be given the opportunity to display your work in our Gallery or at external exhibitions and events.

What do I need to bring with me?

The requirements of each student and the amount ad type of glass differs widely so you will be asked by the tutor to pay for any materials you use on an individual basis. Please bring £10 towards the cost of the glass used and give it to the tutor on the day.
Glass cutters will be provided.
Health and Safety:
You must wear closed toe shoes
All masks, gloves and ear defenders will be supplied if necessary
No drinks are allowed in the studio because of the possible risks of contamination.
