Stained Glass at Sevenoaks

Stained glass project for stained glass groups 2022/23

Our tutor Clare says: "My intention for setting this project was to bring all four stained glass groups together and given the title 'Joy', make us think about what truly makes us joyful, especially after the awful few years we have all had through the Covid pandemic. The results are wonderful with such a variety of subject matter, the panels combine as a whole and encompass our class talent and also our individuality.

In a nod to Edward Burne-Jones (whose work is believed to include the two stained-glass panes in Room One of Sevenoaks Adult Education), I suggested that we all use the colours of green, yellow and blue alongside clear glass of our choice. I feel extremely privileged to be able to enjoy Burne-Jones' work in the very room we now use to create our own art, and by adding these two panels to the room, we add to the story of stained-glass and this beautiful building.

I am immensely proud of all the learners in my classes and these panels are a true statement to their skills and passion.
