Health, Wellbeing and Personal Development Woodwork courses

We offer a range of Woodwork courses as part of our Health, Wellbeing and Personal Development provision. These courses are designed to encourage learners to explore the benefits of creative crafts and the positive impacts they can have on your health and wellbeing.

Our Health, Wellbeing and Personal Development Woodwork courses are ideal for those who are new to a subject or who have completed a beginners' course and are wanting to progress to the next step. These courses are funded through the Education and Skills Funding Agency, meaning course fees are subsidised and additional concessions may be available, subject to eligibility criteria.

Our Woodwork courses are taught in our specialist woodwork studios by expert tutors, providing the opportunity for learners to gain hands-on experience of using a variety of different tools and techniques.

Throughout your Woodwork course you'll have the opportunity to try a range of woodwork techniques using hand tools, including how to make simple joints and how to apply finishes to your project. You'll also learn how to identify different types of wood, their properties, how to handle and treat them and the best use for each different type of wood. Under the guidance of our Woodwork tutor, you'll practise your woodwork techniques and skills to complete a project, while working at a level and pace you are comfortable with.

Work Skills and Careers Woodwork courses

If you're looking to take your Woodwork skills to the next level, our Working In Woodwork and Working In Carpentry courses can help you gain skills to turn your passion into your career. Work Skills and Careers courses are designed as an introduction into the professional practice needed to progress in a creative discipline. They are the perfect vocational course for anyone looking to take the first steps in starting a career or progressing onto further work skills or accredited courses. Our Working In Woodwork and Working In Carpentry courses focus on developing foundational skills and honing these to a high standard to support the transition into working in the creative industries. As part of these courses, you'll be required to attend a virtual session recorded by the National Careers Service which can support you with further advice about working in this area.
