Assessing Damage to Books One of the fundamental skills you’ll learn is how to assess damage to cloth and leather-bound books. This involves understanding the different types of damage that can occur, such as tears, loose pages, and worn covers. You’ll gain expertise to evaluate the extent of the damage and determine the best course of action for repair or restoration.
Paring Leather Leather is a common material used in bookbinding and mastering the technique of paring leather is crucial. Paring involves thinning the leather to the desired thickness, making it easier to work with and ensuring a smooth finish. Our courses will teach you how to pare leather with precision, using specialised tools and techniques.
Health and Safety Safety is paramount in any craft, and bookbinding is no exception.
