Who can join this course

Students interested in the AAT courses will be required to complete an initial assessment prior to enrolling on the course, to ensure that this is the most suitable course for you. You can complete the assessment here https://forms.office.com/r/vKpBNQ1QGC or contact a local adult education centre for further information.

You will need basic computing skills to attend this course as it is online and the final exam is computer-based. You should be able to follow spoken and written instructions, read handouts/activities and take part in group discussions.

This course is aimed at those who are new to the skills and knowledge required of bookkeepers. It is suitable for students studying in preparation for employment in bookkeeping roles and for those who are already employed in bookkeeping and/or data processing roles.

You will need a computer/laptop with a camera, a calculator (not one built into a mobile phone), a notepad, pen, pencil, eraser and ruler. Your tutor will advise you at the start of the course of anything else that you may need.

**PLEASE NOTE: In order to complete the course and gain a certificate, you will need to pass one computer-based exam. This assessment will take place in Oakwood House in Maidstone on 2nd April but please ensure you are available in the last week of April which would be the time for an alternative exam date in case of unavoidable course alterations.**

**PLEASE NOTE: You must register with AAT in order to take the exam and gain the certificate. You will need to complete registration by the third week of the course. You will need to pay a qualification fee (£46) directly to AAT in order to register for the exam. The fee covers this qualification's lifetime. Registration provides you with access to online learning materials which will support you with your study.**

**PLEASE NOTE: As this is an accredited course, regular attendance, a high level of commitment and approximately 2.5 hours of home study per week are required from you when enrolling on this course. You may be removed from the course if you do not regularly attend. You are advised to read the course syllabus https://www.aat.org.uk/system/files/assets/level-one-award-bookkeeping-qualification-specification.pdf prior to enrolling on the course.**
