You must meet the entry requirements for the course
- You must be a UK national, or an Irish national, or an EEA national with pre-settled or settled status under the EU Settlement scheme
- You must have been resident in the UK or an EEA country continuously for the 3 years preceding the start date of your course. For learners living in the Greater London Authority area only you must have valid permission to live in the UK for at least 12 months in duration from the start date of your course.
- You must be aged 19 or over as at the 31st August 2024 for courses in the 2024/25 academic year
- You must agree to commit to and complete an Individual Learning Plan in agreement with your course tutor
Who can join this course
Kent Family Learning courses and workshops are free for parents, carers and grandparents, who are aged 19 years and above and who live in Kent and are intended to help create a better family life. All courses are funded by the Education and Skills Funding Agency and are FREE to eligible learners. To be eligible you must be able to answer ’yes’ to BOTH statements below:
1. Have you been living in the UK or an EEA country continuously for at least 3 years prior to the learning start date, and
2. Are you a UK national, or Irish national or do you have pre-settled or settled status under the EU Settlement Scheme?
Please speak with us if you cannot answer ‘yes’ to both statements as you may be able to gain a place if you can provide suitable residency evidence.
Learners may enrol onto courses in this subject area, up to a maximum of 240 guided learning hours. Please refer to our Course details for the subject area, and guided learning hours assigned to this course.

In this enlightening journey, participants will explore the aspects of autism spectrum disorder (ASD), while recognizing and celebrating the unique strengths and abilities of autistic individuals.Join us as we delve into strategies for creating a supportive environment, managing behaviour, and developing coping mechanisms for both individuals with autism and their caregivers. Through discussions and practical techniques, participants will gain valuable understanding of inclusivity and promoting the well-being of individuals with autism."Autism Awareness" aims to help with empathy, understanding, and acceptance. To get the most out of your course we recommend you attend at least 85% of your sessions. If you do have a pre-arranged commitment booked during term time, please let the tutor know in advance so that we can help you catch up on missed sessions and ensure that you still achieve the course outcome.
