Is this course for me

As an ancient Japanese poetic form, three-line haiku are perfectly designed to encourage being in the moment. They allow us to appreciate the minutiae of life but can also lead to great philosophical thoughts. In the first week we will study the form and how it developed, and you will practice writing some haiku. Between the two meetings you will be asked to write a few examples to bring along to the second session. In the second week we will see how the form can be extended and adapted.

There will be a mixture of tutor input, discussion and practical written exercises. Each week some work for home study will be set and discussed the following week.
