Who can join this course

This is a low to medium impact cardio class, using resistance equipment to tone and sculpt your body and includes floor based strengthening and flexibility exercises.

You will be taught the health benefits of cardiovascular and muscular strength and endurance training, performance technique, basic equipment safety and movement to music. You will need to be able to read and write short sentences, follow verbal instructions, observe and copy physical movements and use spatial awareness within a group.
On successful completion of this course students will be able to identify specific exercises for personal use outside of the class.

By the end of this course you should be able to:
- Use basic resistance equipment safely
- Perform muscle, strength and endurance exercises
- Locate muscle groups
- Practise cardiovascular moves
- Exercise independently to music with minimal guidance
- Recount at least three ways in which exercises can benefit health and wellbeing

Is this course for me

To assist us in providing a safe and healthy environment for you to exercise your will be asked to complete a Confidential Health Questionnaire. You will be taught by a qualified instructor. Teaching methods will include demonstration, explanation, discussion and times for question and answer sessions. Your tutor will demonstrate movements and talk you through all exercises. You will be carefully observed to ensure that you are working safely and be encouraged to monitor and record your progression on the course.

Additional Information

From 1st August 2024, the Department for Education (DfE) require that learners attending this course must identify their primary purpose for learning. This course is not available for learners whose main aim is to learn a hobby, or for leisure/pleasure.

If you do have a pre-arranged commitments booked during term time, please let the tutor know in advance so that we can help you catch up on missed sessions and ensure that you still achieve the course outcome.
