Who can join this course

For anybody who is looking to improve their language skills to able to teach in a school setting.
The course follows on from our French Intermediate course and is for anyone who has the knowledge of the tenses and basic structure of the language and needs fluency and conversation practice. Students need to have attended a French Intermediate course or have studied the language for approximately 300 hours or completed French GCSE (A/C grades) or O level some time ago.
You should be able to speak confidently in predictable everyday situations.
This is not a teaching qualification and is aimed at those who already have a formal teaching qualification but wish to expand their teaching repertoire.

Is this course for me

Do you want to build your language skills to be able to teach French in a school setting? You will benefit from learning from, and exchanging with, your supportive tutor and other students as you build your fluency in the language to achieve proficiency.

Course aims

By the end of the course you should be able to:

* Build the skills necessary to be able to teach the language to Beginners Plus/Lower Intermediate level.
* Communicate on a wider range of topics and be able to extract details accurately from various sources.
* Obtain information from complex texts and deal with topics of a familiar/unfamiliar nature.
* Make hypotheses using the conditionaL.
* Start to express attitudes and emotions using the subjunctive.
* Start to use colloquial expressions and appropriate style of language in conversations.
* Grammar gaps will be covered as needed.

What will I need for my course

The course book will be discussed at the first session if appropriate. Students will need to bring a pen and paper and an A4 ring binder for handouts, although we advise students not to buy anything until after the first session.

What can I do next

After a year of study, the next course will be Intermediate Plus. The tutor or Curriculum Leader can advise on the most suitable course for you, or check www.kentadulteducation.co.uk. Courses are designed to progress you to further study or into employment.
