Who can join this course

For anybody who is looking to improve the practical speaking and listening skills needed to cope with a range of work related situations more complex than those at Lower Intermediate level. This course follows on from our Lower Intermediate course. Students need to either have completed one of our Lower Intermediate courses or have studied GCSE (A/C grades) or have studied the language for approximately 150 hours and who can express themselves and understand information relating to personal, work or social matters. If you are unsure carry out our self-assessment test available on www.kentadulteducation.co.uk. The assessment provides a score to help you chose the best course for you. Is this course for me

Do you want to be able to use your French in a range of work related situations? This is the aim of our French Upper Intermediate course. You will benefit from exchanging face to face with a supportive tutor and others as you practise speaking and enjoy learning the language. By the end of the course, students should be able to:
- Describe (people, places, situations, events etc) in the present and past tense
- Make comparisons
- Exchange/extract key information on a variety of topics/situations
- Use the imperative to give and follow instructions
- Make arrangements using different tenses
- Express hypothesis ( if clause …)
- Exchange/extract key information on a variety of topics/situations
- Deal with emergencies, problems and complaints
- Work related grammar and vocabulary will be expanded
- Use expressions and forms appropriate to the language using present, future and some past tenses.

Additional Information

From 1st August 2024, the Department for Education (DfE) require that learners attending this course must identify their primary purpose for learning. This course is not available for learners whose main aim is to learn a hobby, or for leisure/pleasure.

If you do have a pre-arranged commitments booked during term time, please let the tutor know in advance so that we can help you catch up on missed sessions and ensure that you still achieve the course outcome.
