This course will cover the areas of planting, pruning and propagating:-

PLANTING
Learning how to plant and establish new trees, shrubs and perennials is becoming more and more important in these days of extreme weather. Giving your plants the best start in life will help them to establish well, resist disease and reward you with beautiful blooms and healthy growth. At this workshop you will learn how and when to plant and care for woody and herbaceous plants through the seasons.

PRUNING
Pruning can be confusing – and daunting. Our plants don’t always come with instructions and they have their own ideas about how to grow. At this workshop you will learn how, what and when to prune a variety of plants, so whether you have inherited a garden full of unruly shrubs, or want to learn how to best look after the plants in your care, this workshop will help you with both the general principles and practical techniques.

PROPAGATING
This is a low cost (often no cost) way to create new plants. Propagation – whether from seed or by taking cuttings, is extremely cost effective and satisfying – and rather addictive. At this workshop you will learn about several methods of propagating plants, the best time of year to sow seed and take cuttings and how to look after your new little plants. You will also take some cuttings at the workshop to bring home.

This course will be taught by Jo Arnell. Jo is RHS trained in Horticulture and Garden Design, with an emphasis on plants and borders, Jo is keen to inspire everyone to enjoy growing and living with plants through the seasons.
